O Solar Mio

'Busy old fool, unruly sun' Do you know what you have done? A poem by Oliver Freeman.

'Busy old fool, unruly sun'
Do you know what you have done?

You have created life
The birds and the bees
Fish in the oceans
Animals and trees.

Trees that have fallen
Deep under ground
To be reborn as carbon
Black and brown.

Fish that have swum
Until they cease toil
Dissipated and lost
Re-emerging as oil.

All of this energy
Comes from your work
But it’s frying our planet
You are such a jerk

‘Busy old fool, unruly sun’
Do you know what you have done?

(And you, dear reader,
Do you follow the pun?)
